I love hummus and ate a lot of it before starting Medifast. Here’s a fairly simple recipe to make a dip that is pretty close to real hummus. You can also use this as a sauce on some of your lean and green meals.
- 8 ounces silken tofu
- 2 Tbs lemon juice
- 1 Tbs sesame oil
- 1/2 teas. salt
- 2 tbs of olive oil
You will need a food processor for this recipe! Combine the tofu, lemon juice, sesame oil, salt and blend it in the food processor until smooth. Keep the processor going and slowly pour a steady stream of olive oil and continue to process until the mixture has a consistency of thick mayonnaise.

I am so excited to see this! I love Hummus and have been missing it like crazy!
Thanks~
I don’t know if I would say it’s close to hummus, since you definitely notice the lack of chickpeas and tahini. I would say it’s closer to mayonnaise, but it definitely isn’t bad and I will definitely be trying this on some chicken later this week. Thanks for the recipe!
How does this fit into the 5-1 plan? It wouldn’t count as a meal would it?
same question as karen…?
It’s meant as a garnish to compliment a meal with a healthy fat (olive oil).
Love hummus and appreciate this recipe.
