Medifast – Day 3

It has gotten really cold! This is not something we are used to here in Austin. Cold weather makes staying on program even harder because all I want to eat is a huge bowl of queso. But I managed to do okay except for a last minute lapse of will-power. You’ll have to tune in tomorrow to see how badly it derailed my progress.

On Day 3, I really noticed a reduction in the hunger pangs. In fact, I completely forgot to drink my afternoon shake and moved it back to later in the day. Also, no headaches or any other bad side effects. I felt surprisingly good.

Here’s what I ate:

  • Maple and Brown Sugar Oatmeal
  • Hot Chocolate
  • Chicken & Wild Rice Soup
  • Char Sui Chicken Salad (Once again, this was not a legitimate Lean and Green meal, but it was a delicious green salad with chicken.
  • Strawberry Shake
  • 2 glasses of Wild Turkey (???)

Yes, you read that right. I drank 2 glasses of whiskey last night. From what I understand, alcohol is about the worst way you can cheat on Medifast. There are all kinds of excuses I could make, but when it comes down to it, I don’t regret ending the day with a little whiskey. With this blog, I am choosing to err on the side of honesty rather than sugar-coat things to present a perfect example. Alcohol is about the worst way you can cheat on Medifast because from what I understand it knocks your body out of ketosis almost instantly. I will do better.

I did drink a LOT of water. I felt pretty thirsty all day so I was really pounding it. And I drank 2 cups of coffee.

Starting Weight: 225 (not cool)
Day 2 Weight: 222
Day 3 Weight: 218.5

I was really surprised by the drop to 218.5 and re-weighed myself several times to make sure it wasn’t a fluke. I don’t expect to see this type of quick weight loss again because I think it’s all the water and other junk finally leaving my system.

So… how are you guys doing?

  1. I know that alcohol slows your progress down, but I really believe that if I had cut it out completely I would have been doomed to failure. Depriving myself completely just didn’t seem like the right thing to make me stick to the program. I have been having a glass of wine a few nights a week, but only one glass (on most nights). The key is lots and lots of water throughout the day and after any drinking. (in my non-expert opinion).

  2. An important key to weight loss is to get your body properly hydrated. Water plays many important roles in weight loss. Alchohol and caffiene, both dehydrate the body; but try not to deprive youself of anything, take small asteps and make small changes Do everything in moderation. It is good that you are keeping a journal each day, that will help. Being healthy is a lifestyle, not a diet. There are many good tips on how to achieve permanent weight loss; none of them includes gimmicks, diets, or diet pills. To assist with weight control; keep a daily food journal and every time the urge to snack is felt, first drink a large glass of clear water. The major reason so many people in America are overweight is because we eat too much for comfort! It does not hurt to treat ourselves with something special once in a while, what is necessary is that we limit our portions and do not overeat! It is also necessary to keep our body properly hydrated, so drink a full glass of water with each meal or snack. Being overweight ******, but after reading a book, I lost 85 pounds! Words can not express how good I feel! This is a comment which I recently received about the book Lose Weight Using Four Easy Steps
