Medifast – Day 2

I’m over 48 hours into Medifast. Doing pretty well so far. I started to feel a spastic sort of energy on Day 2. I think this may be due to too much coffee in comparison to the amount of calories I’m taking in. But no headaches so far and I really didn’t feel hungry. I definitely don’t feel like I am in ketosis yet.

Here’s what I ate:

  • Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
  • Dutch Chocolate Shake
  • Chicken and Wild Rice Soup
  • Dutch Chocolate Shake
  • Salad and Sweet Potato Soup. This does not qualify as a Lean and Green Meal, but I was a dinner guest and it was delicious. Dinner is always the tough one for me because I frequently eat at a friend’s house. And a lot of my friends are really good cooks. However, it was healthy stuff, I kept the portions to a reasonable size and I didn’t eat any bread.
  • Vanilla Pudding

Starting Weight: 225 (not cool)
Day 2 Weight: 222

One pound down. The first few days of weight loss are kind of crazy and you can’t really rely on them. You’re getting rid of a lot of water, etc. Big drops in the first few days are common, especially for men. But, it’s nice to have some of that out of my system. And I weighed myself on both analog and digital scales to make sure the scales weren’t reading differently. After today, I will use the digital scale only.

Been following your blog since I started Medifast on 9/21/2009 (…unfortunately that was right around the time you seemed to drop off program, but your site was a large influence on my decision to commit to Medifast).

Keep it up and keep us posted. I recently hit the 50lbs dropped mark right around new years (starting weight 263, current weight 211), and find myself “cheating” a lot more than I want to. I am going to try to stay more on plan now that the holidays are over, football tailgate season is over and I have not travel plans until February. I also need to get myself to the gym more consistently.

Hoping to drop these last 25+ pounds and hit target weight of 185 by April 15. Then I will need to figure out how to maintain….

Can’t wait to follow your progress.

@akirk – Hey thanks for your comment (and for reading the site). That really means a lot to me to know that the site has influenced your decision to try Medifast. Seriously! And you started it on my birthday. That was the beginning of a temporary dark period for me and I definitely dropped off the program.

Congratulations on your 50 pound weight loss! Amazing! Holidays, tailgating and traveling definitely makes it hard. It looks like we are both shooting for a similar time frame and goal. So, I would love if you would keep us up to date on your progress as well. I will have a new post every day, so there will be plenty of room for comments.

And once again – congratulations and thanks!

Yes, really trying. I have been back on for 3 days and can’t seem to lose much, Kind of frustrated. I’m only down 1 lb. so pretty discouraged, but hopefully it will look better in the morning.

Hey Sandy – You should be right at the tipping point. The end of Day 3 is usually always the worst. Don’t give up! It definitely works a little different for everybody, but we all know it works.

Hi there! I just joined medifast for the first time, and I am on day 4. It looks like I have lost about 3 pounds so far. Yesterday was the hardest day for me. I was really hungry, and had to watch my daughter and her friends eat pizza!

Hey, I lost 69lbs last year on MF (Jan-July, with about 1.5months off plan due to various issues)….then off plan the rest of the year due to financial reasons, etc etc….Just started back on Jan 2, 2010 — I'm down 7.1lbs in my first week! Almost as good as when I first started MF when I was a lot heavier! I realize the losses will be smaller & slower since my size is much smaller this time around, but it's the only diet I've ever tried that worked at all. So….here's to the near year! I know you can do this! I can, and so can you, so let's get the weight off! :)

Hey Natalie! That is awesome! Congratulations on your lost. I can totally relate to going off plan for financial reasons. I've totally been there. But the important thing is to not give up even when life is throwing you curve balls.

Keep us up to date on your progress. I'm excited to hear how it goes.

Hi Stacey – Thanks for your comment. Watching people eat pizza is definitely torture. And once you eat a slice, it's way too easy to go back for more. It's like a ninja food designed to sneak up and make you fat. Congratulations on your weight loss so far. It should get easier and easier after Day 4. Let us know how it goes !
