Medifast – Day 14

This is my 14th day on Medifast. Let’s get straight to the numbers and then we’ll discuss.

01/05/2010 – 225 pounds
01/11/2010 – 216 pounds
01/18/2010 – 214 pounds

So… while the second week was not as impressive as the first, I’ve still lost 11 pounds in 2 weeks. That’s definitely nothing to complain about. On top of that, I’m feeling great. I have lots of energy and am really not having trouble sticking with the program. My real downfall is wine and the occasional cocktail.

I’m a very social guy and the weekends are particularly tough. While I’ve managed to avoid eating the off-program food that is out there “in the wild,” I have a much harder time abstaining from social drinking. I haven’t been doing it in excess, but I’m sure it’s affecting the overall results.

So that leaves me with 24 pounds to lose. If I keep up this rate, I will definitely hit my goal by summer. In fact, it may be premature, but I’m already starting to think about the transition process. I want to make sure I really follow it this time, so I want to start getting my mindset right even when it pretty far off.

So, how did everybody else do this week? Was the weekend tough for you?

  1. Hey good for you! I have lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks. It was 5 pounds the first week but this second week has been slow because I kept choosing high sodium greens for my lean and greens (like seaweed from the asian food store– that's SO high sodium!)… plus I drank an MGD 64 whenever the Saints NFC Championship game was on.

  2. Missed your update this week…. how are you doing?

I am clocking in at 205.2 this week, making two weeks in a row of under 2lbs loss. However, I have also recently started a new workout program with a personal trainer, so hopefully I am gaining muscle while losing fat. As I have increased my exercise, I am concerned about the low cal and low protein diet provided by Medifast, and I am considering entering transition phase even though I am about 20 lbs from goal. I am going to take this weekend and really figure out my plan for the next few months.

  3. just found your blog and its interesting. I am starting tomorrow and i am excited and scared. Its not much food! I do work with a trainer so have muscle (under my fat) but havent lost any weight. She doesnt think its enough food! But im going to give it a try. YOur posts seem encouraging. And i am interested to see what akirk decides about the food plan with the workouts!

  4. Hi Diane! Thanks for your comment. Don't be scared, but definitely be excited! I would definitely be careful about working out while on the first 3 weeks of the plan. Your body is going through a dramatic calorie reduction and it's advised not to workout for the first 3 weeks. After that you can slowly start to implement it. But your trainer is probably right, depending on what kinds of workouts you are doing.

  5. Wow! You are rocking it. I'm at 210 right now, but definitely haven't been 100% on program. I've been in airports and hotels for the past couple of weeks, so it's been tough. But I've been sticking to it as close as possible. Also, I've noticed that I am gaining muscle as well. My clothes are about to fall off my body. You're so close and I think you could definitely start transition since you are working out, etc. Let us know how it goes.

  6. So is medifast something you would recommend to others? Lately my motivation to hit the gym has been at an all-time low…but that's the only thing that keeps me in shape as I like to eat unhealthy things from time to time.
I don't think I can abstain for alcohol completely?

  7. I am a week away from my due date for having my second child. I have already purchased my food and can not wait to start as soon as I can. I have been advised to wait 2 weeks since I will be having a c-section, so my body can heal. I have been a regualr at the gym since I was 14 so I am hoping to lose 40 lbs from my two babies I had back to back in less than 3 months! It sure gets harder to lose once you pass that 30 year old mark! But I am so excited to use this program since I have done a ketosis diet before and know how hard it is to find foods you can eat-with this the food is done for you!

  8. Today is my day 3 on the program. Day 1 was a breeze. Yesterday pretty good also – today I seem to be very low on energy. I’m hoping this is the ‘3 day break-in period’ affect that they talked about because I definitely think I can follow this program. So far most of the food is fine (oatmeal is not my favorite but the rest has been fine). Except for the lack of wine or cocktails I’m hoping this will be the program to finally loose all the excess weight I’ve accumulated over the years.

  9. Okay so I started 9 days ago. I had a baby 3 weeks ago and have been loyal to the program except for a glass of wine last night. Lost 5 lbs the first week but never entered into Ketosis………is it because my hormones are still adjusting from having a baby? as long as I am losing weight I guess its fine but I want to lose fat, not muscle. any suggestions?

    1. I’m not sure exactly what is going on, but I would definitely not be concerned until after the second week. I realize I’m a little late to this comment, but have you made any progress?
